Kaka Set To Wear Number 9 At Real Madrid - Reports

Posted by Ahmed Ebrahim

His official presentation might not be until this evening but Radio Marca is reporting already that Kaka will wear the number 9 shirt at Real Madrid.

The number is vacant after the departure of Javier Saviola last week and even though it is not usually a midfielder's number, it will be given to Kaka.

There were various other jersey numbers, like 8, 10, 18 and also 5, which was worn by Zinedine Zidane that Kaka apparently rejected, but he will follow after another Brazilian and wear the No. 9 shirt.

One of the most famous players at Madrid to ever wear the number was of course Ronaldo, who now plays his football back home in Brazil for Corinthians.
Whilst Saviola didn't get many chances in the top, Ronaldo certainly impressed with it, scoring 83 times in 127 matches.

As well as Ronaldo, other greats from Real Madrid's past have worn it like Hugo Sanchez, Santillana and also the legendary Alfredo di Stefano.
The latter is likely to be at the Bernabeu for the presentation this evening and Marca reports that Brazilian great Pele will also make an appearance.
