Juan Valera, who had only one more year left on his contract, had been tipped to join Osasuna after playing at Racing Santander on loan last season.But the 24-year-old has now ended speculation about his future at the Vicente Calderon by committing himself to the capital club.
Valera is now tied to Atletico Madrid until 2012 after extending his previous deal by two more years.
The former Murcia man has been at Atletico since 2005 but his time with'Los Colchoneros' has been marked by a series of injuries.
