Barca agree Maxwell deal

Posted by Ahmed Ebrahim

Barcelona are closing on their first signing of a quiet close-season with the likely acquisition of Inter Milan defender Maxwell.
While arch rivals Real Madrid have been responsible for unprecedented spending following a trophyless campaign, Treble winners Barca have seemingly been content with their lot.

Barca boss Pep Guardiola is expected to make signings though and it is Brazilian Maxwell that will become his first of the summer for a €5million (£4.3m) fee agreed with Inter.

The Catalan giants have been on the lookout for a new left-back following the departure of veteran Sylvinho.
Maxwell, who made 33 appearances for the Italian champions last season, is the man they have plumped for after negotiations with Deportivo La Coruna for Filipe Luis failed to yield an accord.
